Engine Failsafe Program Bmw X5. I have a 98 740il bmw that keep saying transmission fail safe program on the dashboard but i only have my check engine light on and im leaking transmission fluid. The butterfly valve in the throttle body will actually stick not allowing air to flow into the manifold causing failsafe engine mode to kick in reducing the amount of power your engine will produce.
I turned the car off and restarted it and same message. The car only goes in reverse and it wont move but it start up. I ran the car while contacting BMW Assist. I attempted to start my car up it is choking and wont accelerate past 1 mph I give it gas but the odometer isnt moving past the number 1. Ran a scan. Timms BMW M62 and M62TU Engine Failsafe problems on E38 and E39 Main DME ECU 30A Fuse blown.
I tired a few more times adding acceleration and will stall ugly.
I ran the car while contacting BMW Assist. Usually it seems to pop on under harder acceleration but not always. They figured out that it was the throttle position sensor. I have been successful with resetting it on a restart occasionally a couple of. I plugged OBD2 Scanner and got code.
